The certification of community leaders is probably the closest one can get to an accreditation scheme for professionals. The long term goal is to build a pool of professionally-trained grassroots leaders that can connect well with their constituents.”
Ms Jessie Tan, Dean of NACLI, added, “Community engagement is key to nation building and we need to equip our community leaders with the necessary skills. The introduction of these two certificates means that we have taken a step further in recognizing the professionalism of the people who are giving their best to the community.”
The two (2) certificate programmes are Certificate in Community Development to be offered to all grassroots activists, and Certificate in Community Leadership, which will be made available for key appointment holders.
