A Magical Night: RP's 2nd Anniversary

The setting was right. With the
sunset overseeing the merlion and the cool breeze
brushing across your face, it was a night to be
remembered.
On 30th July 2004,
Republic Polytechnic lit up 2 candles at the
Fullerton WaterBoatHouse with all her staff,
associates and vendors. What made the night magical
was the free flow of wine. As part of our radical
approach, staff was invited for wine-tasting. Music,
good food and wine…what more can a mere mortal ask
for?
The
night kicked off with staff mingling around, a good
break to know each other better out of office. They
chatted about their kids, family, ambitions, visions
and more. Just as the mood started to set in, the
nostalgic feeling was raised to another level as a
video was played to showcase our achievement in the
last year. In this 1 year, we had achieved our
People Developer Standard, ISO 9001, ISO 14001,
OHSAS 18001 and Familiy Friendliness Award. In
addition, we had seen the transition from our first
batch of students to having our second batch of
students. We also saw how our students had improved
by leaps and bounds when compared to their peers.
The confidence they portrayed when presenting
themselves to the public simply warmed our hearts.
We
soon had a glimpse of what the future lies in store
with us with the launch of our VOIP (Voice Over
Internet Protocal) softphones. This definitely adds
the exclamation mark to our fully wireless and
technological approach. Staff had a chance to
showcase their numerous talents as well. From the
editing of video to the performance of magic tricks,
our staff showed everyone how the determination
which we have within us, simply if we are willing to
learn. Willing learners we definitely are. This can
be seen when a lot of staff flocked around Dr. Loke
Han Ying to find out how the magic tricks are done.
As best said by Prof. Low,
Principal & CEO of Republic Polytechnic, “We have
achieved so much this year. The year to come will be
even more exciting because there is so much more to
do and we will continue to achieve and outdo
ourselves.”
With that, staff was left to
enjoy the magical night as Republic Polytechnic
turns 2.
