RP wins Gold Award for the Singapore Health Award (SHA) 2008

The Singapore HEALTH (Helping Employees Achieve Life-Time Health) Award is awarded by the Health Promotion Board (HPB) each year to give national recognition to organisations that have commendable Workplace Health Promotion (WHP) programmes. It is an important way of showing appreciation to organisations that strive to help their employees lead healthy and vibrant lives.

An organisation is judged on the activities held during the previous year to promote healthy living such as physical activities, healthy eating and the promotion of mental health. Over the past year, RP has provided many organised talks covering most health issues including stress management, cancer awareness and triggers of weight gain. Participation rates for these talks have steadily risen, and at times overwhelming. Various exercise classes organised by our Health and Recreation Club (HRC) such as yoga and pilates classes, fun aerobics, kickboxing, salsa and hip hop dance classes were very popular among our staff. HRC also conducted health screenings for our staff and educating our staff through workshops on adolescence and basic skin care.

The criteria of the award includes Programme Positioning and Organisation, Programme Planning, Programme Evaluation and Results and Programme Comprehensiveness. RP has done very well to achieve a commendable score of 89.05%!

Since this is the third time RP has won the Gold Award, we will be working towards the prestigious Platinum Award, the highest form of recognition which is awarded to organisations that have achieved three consecutive Golds, next year. RP staff can look forward to more health talks and workshops, and we strongly encourage all staff to participate!
