RP wins Leading HR Practices in Quality Work-Life Award!
The Office of Human Resources (OHR) team headed to the ballroom of the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel on 4 July 2008 for The Singapore HR Awards 2008 Presentation Gala. Graced by Guest-of-Honour, Mr Abdullah Tarmugi (Speaker of Parliament), the event is a platform to celebrate the achievements of organizations and HR practitioners that have shown great effort in developing and championing best leading HR practices.

Class 95’s DJ The Flying Dutchman was the host for this event, and with his great sense of humor, he certainly made the night a very memorable one . This year, OHR made a submission for Leading HR Practices in Quality Work-Life Award and it was announced at this Gala dinner that Republic Polytechnic won this award. Eden Liew, Deputy Principal of Republic Polytechnic received the award on behalf of RP.

The Leading HR Practices in Quality Work-Life Award is presented to organizations which have in place programmes which help employees to achieve quality work-life, through balancing work and personal life in order to increase employee satisfaction, productivity, performance and retention.
SingTel, Ministry of Manpower and Public Service Division were amongst the 10 recipients to be recognized in this category, alongside RP. A total of 75 Leading HR Practices and 46 Special Mention Awards were conferred to 35 different organizations, with more than a third being first-time participants.
The main highlight of the programme was the announcement of winners for the Corporate HR Awards which are presented to organizations that have demonstrated effective, creative and proactive HR & people management practices in at least four of the Leading HR Practices categories. This year, 8 organizations from both the private and public sector bagged this highly esteemed award.
Following that night of awards, the OHR team is hoping to work towards the prestigious Corporate HR Award in The Singapore HR Awards 2009.

On a separate note, Republic Polytechnic was also featured in the recent PSD Challenge Magazine for its Work-Life programmes. To have a read, please click on: http://www.ps21.gov.sg/Challenge/2008_07/feature3.html. |
