RP Annual Corporate Retreat 2006

RP held its annual Administrative Division Corporate Retreat on 4 December 2006 at the Orchid Country Club. 10 administrative departments with a total of 46 participants took part in this year’s combined retreat jointly organized by Office of Procurement and Technology (OPT) and Office of Human Resource (OHR).

The day began with an opening speech by Deputy Principal, Mr Eden Liew, who shared with us his insights of the challenges faced by educational institutions in the face of declining birth rates and how RP can further distinguish itself from other emerging institutes of higher learning. Eden also shared with all admin staff his vision for RP and how administrative departments can continue to provide high quality services that will contribute in propelling RP towards greater achievements.

The Office of Planning and International Operations (OPI) next presented the 2007 Corporate Indicators which gave staff important insights of the direction where RP will head towards in the next 5 years. This was followed by individual departmental discussions where Heads of Department engaged in lively discussions with their staff on the departmental directions and work plans for the coming year.

After the engaging discussions and lively exchanges, it was time for a hearty lunch at the country club’s buffet lounge. This was followed by some fun-filled team-building games to promote teamwork and communication. Most importantly, it brought staff from different departments closer together which would not have been possible back in the office environment. The team-building program ended on a high note with each team providing a meaningful interpretation of the learning points from the team-building games.

The day finally came to a close with the presentation of prizes to the winning team from the team building games. We are also happy to note that all participants went home feeling tired but satisfied after a meaningful exchange of ideas and a good work-out!
