Bringing joy to children – what a wonderful way to end 2006!!
Led
by Joanne Tan, a 2nd year DBA student, and guided by Dr Alex Lum from
CIE, a team from the Business Climate Interest Group set out to fulfill simple
Christmas wishes of less-fortunate children from the Melrose Children’s Aid Home
in Clementi.
Wish-cards were hung on the Christmas tree inside Republic Polytechnic’s Library
from the 20 to 29 of November 2006 and instead of the normal pledging of
monetary sums, RP staff and students purchased the items wished for personally
so that the giving was more personalised and meaningful.
The
project received tremendous support – with more than half the wishes pledged
within the first two hours! Staff and students also wrote notes of love and
encouragement on the presents, bringing further joy to the hearts of the
children.
The
project was completed with the delivery and personal handing-out of presents by
the Business Climate IG’s project team, to the delight of the many adorable
children!
We
look forward to continuing the project for Christmas 2007!
