Put
some creative souls and a burning passion for the arts together and you get a
blast of an event. The Flame Awards was presented by Create.Republic & Club:G on
the 24th November. It marks the closing for the first Create Fiesta
held in Republic Polytechnic from 22nd-24th November 2006.
This joyous event was organized by our very own student representatives from
Create Management Committee led by Advisors Ms Vicky Wong & Ms Celine Yeo. After numerous weeks of
planning, the Flame Awards was finally here! Everyone was enthusiastically
waiting for the event to get started as they dressed up in their cool and
stylish Retro Rock outfits. Our Guest-of-Honours,
Mr. Eden Liew (Deputy
Principal), Mr. Sean Tay (Director of OSG)
and Dr. Gan Su-lin
(Director of CCC & STA) were there to grace the event.
The
Flame Awards commemorates the contributions of students to their various
Interest Groups (IGs). A total of 60 awards were given out to students from
Create.Republic & Club:G, who have shown tremendous commitment and service to
the development of their IGs. We hope that they will continue to be our
torchbearers in their art form and inspire their juniors to do the same.
Congratulations to all our nominees!
Besides
handing out the Flame Awards, Campus Arts Productions also held the finals to
Republic Polytechnic first’s dance competition, Dance.Republic during the event.
Facilitator, Mr. Andy Kok (RP’s Simon Cowell) and a few California Fitness
Instructors were the judges for the night. Talents shone right through and it
was tough to decide on the winners! The winners for the group category were
the ever-hyper Hip Hop IG (Style Methodz) and the champion for the individual category went to
Nor Azhar Bin Lokman (CA). Congratulations to all our winners who walked away
with Adidas vouchers and California Fitness goodies! A round of applause for the
efforts of all the participants too!
After
witnessing both events, it was time for a sumptuous dinner catered from Kaffe Esplanade. The fondue and ice-cream were the favourites for all! YUMMY!!!
Our aspiring DJs from Electronic Music Production Crew (EMP) were also there to
spin mambo music for all to dance the night away… Everyone was grooving to the
music on the dance floor like they have never done before! GROOVY BABY!!
It was
a very fun-filled and groovy night and like they always say, all good
things have to come to an end but do continue to look out for more Create.Republic
IG’s performances...! Till we meet again next year at Flames Awards 2007. If
you had missed this one, make sure you score yourself an invite for the next
Flame Awards!
