Team RP created a big
impact at Chartered Institute of Marketing (Singapore) National Marketing
Competition 2006 finals. They beat 5 other teams from NUS, NTU, SP, NYP and
Jiangsu Institute of Economic and Technology and were declared champion
for the National Marketing Competition 2006 Finals.
The team impressed the
judges with their innovative idea of marketing a “Four Season Café” in
Singapore, selling products with fruits as main ingredients. The team even came
up with a video, food prototypes and renovation materials to let the judges have
a feel of the ambience of the café. The comments from the judges were that the
marketing proposal was of a high standard and that they were able to feel the
real element in their marketing plan. They are even interested to see how their
business plan can be executed by finding the right investors.
“The marketing idea was
originated from one of the problems from G106 Enterprise Skills 2 module last
year. Students were asked to come up with a marketing plan for a café and one of
the teams in class actually suggested this “four season” feel. They were able
to take what they learnt in the classroom and put it into real practice and
impressed the industry practitioners”, said their mentor Mr Sim Choon Hou
(CIE).
The team comprised the
following students from SAS and SEG:
-
Tan Wai Keong (SAS/DBMS
Year 2 Student)
-
Tan Chee Yuen (SEG/DBME
Year 3 Student)
-
Sim Junming Jason (SAS/DBIO
