RP Students Strike Gold at the Synergy 2006 Patent Commercialization Competition

A team of 4 students from the School of Engineering took part in the Synergy 2006 Patent Commercialization Competition organized by NTU. The finals
was held on 23 Sep 2006 at NTU. There were 6 awards to given out in this competition.
Three cash prizes were awarded to the "Best Patent Commercialization Plan" and three awards
were given for the "Most Innovative Plan".
RP students brought back good news by winning the GOLD award for the Innovation Award Category of the competition, beating 6 teams
from NUS and NTU as well as a team from Temasek Polytechnic.
The RP team consists of the following students:
1. Muhammad Faizal Bin Mohamad (DBME)
2. Muhammad Husaini Bin MD Hamid (DISE)
3. Ng Wee Tiek (DBME)
4. Koh Chek Sam (DBME)
With the help of facilitators from both CIE and SEG (Ms Raelene Tan - AA of CIE, Mr Hisham - SEG and some other facilitators from SEG), they came
up with the idea of providing clinical solutions and looked into the implementation
of wireless biomedical equipment to improve efficiency, effectiveness, convenience and productivity. The team chose a number of patents which include low power, low noise, low voltage ADC and transconductance
amplifier to support their submission. The judges were very impressed by their
creativity.
