The Total Defence Awards
recognize and acknowledge the support that employers and Civil Resource
owners have extended towards National Defence and National Service.
Republic Polytechnic (RP) had, from the beginning,
supported this national programme wholeheartedly . This year, RP received our
1st Distinguished Defence
Partner Award. It is an honour to receive this award in our 2nd year of
active participation in this Ministry of Defence (Mindef) project, after
receiving our 1st Meritorious Defence Partner Award last year.
A
grand ceremony was held to honour all award winners on 28 July
2006. Coincidentally, RP celebrated its 4th year
Anniversary at our new Woodlands campus on the very same day! This award is indeed a surprise ‘birthday’ present
for RP in recognition of the efforts of our
staff. The Distinguished Defence Awards were presented to organizations
by Assoc Prof Koo Tsai Kee, Minister of State (Defence). Mr Eden Liew,
RP's Deputy Principal received the award on RP’s behalf. Prior to the start of
the awards ceremony, he also represented RP in the joint signing of
the Declaration of Support by Employers, witnessed by Mr Teo Chee Hean, Minister
for Defence.
RP is privileged to be amongst many other government and private organisations, including all the polytechnics, ITE and NUS,
to be recognised for its efforts in contributing towards national defence. Mr Anderson
Lim, RP's Director for the Office of Human Resource (OHR) and his team will continue to work closely with all our colleagues to
encourage active participation in the Total Defence of our nation.
