Organised by the
Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI), The Singapore HR Awards 2006 serves
to honour and recognise individuals and organisations which have made
significant contributions in enhancing people and human capital management and
development practices. The winners were announced at a grand gala dinner held
at the Conrad Centennial on 31 May 2006, hosted by Class 95's DJ, The Flying
Dutchman. Guests at the ceremony include Mr Hawazi Daipi (Senior Parliamentary
Secretary for Ministry of Education and Manpower); the President of the World
Federation of Personnel Management Associations (WFPMA), HR
practitioners and CEOs from various organisations, as well as international
delegates from the World HR Congress 2006.
Republic
Polytechnic (RP) was recognised for its commitment towards
staff learning and development and received an
award in Leading HR Practices in
Learning and Human Capital Development (Special Mention). This award bears testimony to RP's innovative approach and creative management
of staff training and development. It is also in recognition of CED's
pioneering work in developing staff competency in Problem-Based Learning
(PBL) through the PBL Foundation and Development Workshop series.
RP’s innovative
work-life balance programmes and policies also earned it the coveted Leading HR Practices in Quality-Work Life Award. This
award is presented to organisations which have demonstrated effective, creative
and pro-active quality work-life practices, thus contributing to the needs of
their businesses, employees and the nation. KK Hospital, Singapore
Polytechnic and Singapore Police Force were amongst
the only 4 recipients
to be recognized in this category, alongside RP.
RP's
Deputy Principal, Mr Eden Liew, and Director of
Human Resources, Mr Anderson Lim, received the 2 awards on behalf of RP. The
organisers had received over 150 high-quality applications from public and
private sector companies for various categories of awards. Other winners in the
various categories include world-class companies such as ABN Amro, HSBC,
McDonalds, UBS AG and Raffles International Limited.
