Diploma in Design for Interactivity (R36)

Graduation Criteria

To graduate with a Diploma in Design for Interactivity, you must satisfy the modular criteria set by the School of Technology for the Arts.

Students should be able to do this within three years of enrolment, if they successfully complete five modules, or its equivalent, per semester.

How the Modular Structure Works

Modules at the Republic Polytechnic fall into three broad categories, as can be seen from the course structure. They consist of Core modules, Elective modules and Freely Chosen modules. To satisfy the requirements of the Diploma programme, you must complete all the compulsory modules and a specified number of modules from selected categories. These are summarised in the following table:

Table 3: Modular Requirements for Graduation in the DDI

Module Category Number of modules required for graduation Total number of modules offered
Core General* 14 14
Discipline 5 5
Specialisation 8 8
Elective 1 Subject to modules offered each semester
Freely Chosen 2 Subject to modules offered each semester
Total 30 -

* Includes four (4) Industry Orientation Programme modules

Core Modules

There are 3 types of Core modules: General, Discipline-specific and Specialisation-specific modules. General modules aim to help you prepare the ground for generic skills such as cognitive, linguistic, entrepreneurial skills and personal development, as well as equip you with the foundational knowledge of culture and technical communication.

Discipline-specific modules focus on developing your knowledge of the field of arts and its relevant technology, while Specialisation-specific modules are designed to deepen your understanding of the area which you have chosen to pursue.

Elective Modules

Students pursuing the Diploma in Design for Interactivity are required to complete 1 elective module as prescribed in the course structure. Elective modules, where required, are designed to broaden your understanding of the hybrid discipline of technology for the arts.

Freely Chosen Modules

You also need to take 2 Freely Chosen Modules, besides the Core modules, to complement your knowledge acquired from other parts of your diploma programme. These Freely Chosen Modules may be picked from both the School of Technology for the Arts and other schools and centres of The Republic Polytechnic.
