Republic Polytechnic Basketball IG champions in Changi Simei Invitation Cup

On 7 December 2008, Republic Polytechnic (RP) was invited by Changi Simei GRC to take part in the Changi Simei Basketball Challenge Cup.
Some of the teams that participated in this event were from RP, Changi Simei Zone 1 and 2 and Majestic 1 and 2.
RP won the first round of the tournament by a large margin. Our players displayed their teamwork and skills to dominate the matches.
However, the semi-finals was a harder match as RP played against the youth national and national squad players. The game was a see-saw battle as the scoreline
was even at the third quarter. However, in the last quarter, RP displayed good
defence, made use of all the opportunities and extended the lead slowly and won the game with 24 points.
The finals was the toughest match for RP players as the opponents were very experienced. RP was not able to control the tempo in the first half and lost 12 points in the first half.
However, RP gave a good fight in the second half and managed to chase the score back and
was leading by 3 points when the third quarter ended. The last quarter was very
exciting as the audience cheered them on. When the final whistle blew, RP won 72-67 and emerged
as champions!
